Carbohydrate Diet For 3-Hour Glucose Tolerance Test

In order to obtain 150 grams of carbohydrates each day for 3 days prior to taking the glucose tolerance test, please be sure to include in your diet the following foods.

1. Drink 3 cups of milk a day, skim milk is okay
2. One cup of cereal at breakfast
3. Two slices of bread
4. Two pieces of fruit (preferably fresh)
5. Two vegetables, one serving equals ½ cup
6. One of the following:
        a. 1 cup mashed potatoes
        b. 1 cup cooked pasta
        c. 1 cup cooked rice

This is the minimum amount of carbohydrates you need daily for a valid 3-hour glucose tolerance test.

*NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT PRIOR TO YOUR GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST.
