When to Contact Us during Pregnancy

Pregnancy
Pregnancy warning signs
- Sudden weight gain or loss
- Persistent headache not relieved by Tylenol
- Blurred vision
- Swelling or puffines (fluid retention), especially in the hands and face
- Persistent, severe or sharp abdominal pain or cramping with or without nausea and vomiting
- Pain or burning when you urinate
- 5 or more contractions in one hour
- Leaking of amniotic fluid
- Vaginal bleeding
- Unusual or severe discomfort
- Fever > 100.5 F, especially associated with abdominal pain
- Rhythmic back pain or pelvic pressure
- Decrease in fetal movement (24 weeks or beyond)
- How to do fetal kick counts
- Go to a quiet place in your home or office that is without distractions
- Drink a large glass of cold, sugary liquid
- Wait for your baby to move (they do have sleep cycles too)
- Once you feel a movement, start timing. You should feel 10 fetal movements (kicks, rolls, jabs…) in 2 hours
- If you do, you can be reassured
- If you do not, call our office immediately
- Feeling that “something is wrong”, even if you are not sure why
Over 37 weeks (Am I in labor?)
- Regular, painful contractions 5 minutes apart
- Leaking of amniotic fluid
- Vaginal bleeding. A small amount of blood tinged mucous is normal
- Fever > 100.5 F, especially associated with abdominal pain
- Decrease in fetal movement
