Carbohydrate Diet For 3-Hour Glucose Tolerance Test
In order to obtain 150 grams of carbohydrates each day for 3 days prior to taking the glucose tolerance test, please be sure to include in your diet the following foods.
- Drink 3 cups of milk a day, skim milk is okay
- One cup of cereal at breakfast
- Two slices of bread
- Two pieces of fruit (preferably fresh)
- Two vegetables, one serving equals ½ cup
- One of the following:
- 1 cup mashed potatoes
- 1 cup cooked pasta
- 1 cup cooked rice
This is the minimum amount of carbohydrates you need daily for a valid 3-hour glucose tolerance test.
*nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night prior to your glucose tolerance test.
